Private Dog Training Lessons
You And I Train Your Dog Together!
Private lessons are great for people who want to be involved as you will be learning how to train your own dog with my guidance!
Each lesson will last 60 minutes and will consist of myself training the dog before handing your dog over to you and training you how to properly do things while you work your dog!
Private lessons are not only great for people who want to be involved in their dog’s training but these lessons are a cheaper alternative to your dog living with me and you do not have to be without your dog for an extended period of time!
Depending on the issues you are having with your pup and what your dog training goals are will determine how many lessons you will need!
Do you want your dog to be fully trained? Or do you just want your dog to walk nicely on a leash? Be sure to let me know what you want to accomplish and we will move accordingly!
Things That Can Be Accomplished In Private Lessons:
Before I do any lessons I always evaluate your dog. This works in a few ways. You either come to my facility or I may come to your house! We will discuss this. I do this for a few reasons. First off, I learn a lot by just meeting the dog and then I will give you my honest opinion and recommendation which will lead me to letting you know the recommended next steps!
Secondly, evaluating your dog give us the chance to meet and see if we are a good fit!
There are plenty of different things you can accomplish when doing private dog training lessons.
Everything I do stems from the basics. I say it like this, your dog needs to understand the ABC’s before we start writing essays! In other words, your dog needs to understand the easy stuff before we work on advanced commands! Unless your dog has had training before or I have trained your dog we will start with basic obedience on a leash. Once your dog has perfected basic obedience on the leash we can then move to more complicated things such as training your dog to be obedient off leash. Many people do not even know what this is. An obedient dog off leash means your dog will have a short 4 inch leash on and will be fully obedient without you holding onto a leash. Essentially, a finished fully trained dog off leash results in you being able to walk without a leash yet your dog is fully obedient!
Another common issue people have with their dog is not coming when called. Training a dog to come or otherwise known as Recall is one of the biggest issues people have and it is also one of the harder things to teach a dog. This is also something I work on with people!
Common issues we work on:
Training your dog to walk nicely on a leash without pulling you.
On leash basic obedience training
How to Sit
Down (lay down)
Stand
Heeling Patterns
Come
Plus more
Leash Aggression
Off leash obedience
Everything that your dog is taught on leash but there is no leash attached to your dog
Training your dog to come off leash
Fetch, Hold and Out!
If you have a special request you can let me know and if I am able to help you do it I will and if not I will put you in touch with my mentor who can help you!
How Do Private Lessons Work?
For the first few lessons I normally have you come to my facility. Once your dog begins to grasp everything we may go to nearby parks or I can even come to your house. We will discuss what is best!
Depending what you want to achieve and what your dog’s problems are will determine what we do.
Each lesson is 60 minutes long and will be a consist of you and I working together to train your dog. Often times I will begin by training your dog and then pass the leash over to you once your dog begins to understand what it is we are doing.
Once your dog becomes more advanced I transition to having you work the dog the entire time unless helped is needed!
How often we meet depends on your goals and how much you work the dog when I am not with you.
When doing lessons you will need to work your dog on your own in order for us to move forward! I usually give you a few things to work on and then once you master those I tell you to call me so we can progress! From there we can do a few different things. Some people want to meet weekly to keep learning new things and keep their dog in tip top shape. While others just want to meet till they accomplish their goals. The choice is up to you.
For a rule of thumb I usually recommend meeting once a week or bi-weekly at first.
As mentioned we can discuss this and I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have!
